Challenge of the Month: March - Pastels: Look #1

So last month MishMreow chose the theme for March and it was pastels! Pastels can be an incredibly hard thing to master, mainly because many brands just simply cannot do it right. Its hard to find a good pastel eyeshadow and even harder to come up with a look thats wearable and blended. Hence why this month took me an age to actually deliver a look! But here is my take on it and I actually very much enjoyed the process! Next month I want to focus more on improving my skill set - so head on to the end of the post for next months challenge!

Oh yeah, there's my face.

So for this look I used the Lime Crime Palette D'Antoinette, but I did want to address the situation as I haven't actually done so yet. After the whole ordeal with Lime Crime at the moment (just log onto their Instagram if you don't know) I have decided that I won't be using them or featuring them anymore, which is sad as you all know how much I loved the brand, the funky colours and the fact that nobody made a pastel like them! But I just can't support a company that shady, its too much drama and make up is supposed to be fun! Not a hassle. Therefore I will not be featuring or reviewing their items anymore. I will continue to use them in real life and sometimes may include their products in a look or two of mine, but they won't be featured on the blog as openly as I did. I just can't stand by a company that comes with so much baggage and stress!

Anywho with that being said, I have got a couple more pastel looks in mind, which I will include later next month, but for April I thought I would change it up a bit! For April our challenge is lip art! I am obsessed at the moment, colour combos, funky lip styles and designs, the possibilities are endless. I would love some more submissions for this month so get those creative juices flowing!

MAC Cinderella Look

I have always been quite the avid MAC fan. I remember my first collection with them being Disney's Venomous Villains and since then I have never failed to check out their latest collections and furiously collect whatever had different packaging. I have to admit, in recent years I found myself underwhelmed, buying less and less and generally not being very excited. Until MAC Cinderella... that changed everything.
I found myself back to the days of stalking the website and checking House of Fraser, Debenhams and Selfridges relentlessly. It turns out I'm not quite as good as I used to be because it was actually down to Amy from Paintpotted texting me saying the Cinderella collection was on the website that I actually got anything at all! (Thank you Amy!)

My favourite purchase by far was the Stroke of Midnight eyeshadow palette. Despite the fact I have near enough all the shades in my pro palettes, I got it regardless. In a handy 6 pan that would be perfect for weekends away, I found my own little justifications for splashing out and I'm so happy I did! That paired with Reflects Pearl pigment (another permanent product but hey pretty packaging!) became my favourites from the collection (I found the highlighting powder and lipsticks to be kinda blasé). Naturally as soon as I got my little black box through the door I couldn't resist playing with it all and came up with the most perfectly Cinderella look. Its soft, elegant and feminine, not too in your face so perfectly acceptable for daytime and nighttime.

As detailed above I used pretty much all of the colours in the palette with a very light hand. I didn't want any harsh lines as I was going for a very blendable and soft look. It was my first time playing with reflects pearl and I must have sat there looking like the heart eyed emoji when I first swatched it. Its beautiful, so be prepared to see more of it!

So thats my little look, I don't really do collection looks very often but I thought you know, its Disney! I had to do one!

So just a quick update, I just started my job at MAC as a make up artist! I'm incredibly lucky and obviously over the moon as it is quite literally my dream job. So I thought, seeing as I have to wear MAC to work now, would you guys like to see more MAC looks like this?

Flower Series & Collab: PassionFlower

When Hannah from Hannah Marie Beauty asked if I would be interested in doing a collab, I jumped at the chance. It's been a while since I have been involved in a collaboration with other bloggers and nothing like a good collab to get the creative juices flowing! We decided on a flower theme as Spring is very much on our doorstep and what endless opportunities flowers can provide for creativity! Hannah chose the first flower for us to get inspired by, the passionflower.

Passionflowers remind me of my childhood, I distinctly remember seeing so many more of this beautiful flower than you do nowadays! I scoured google images and decided for my recreation of the look to do more of that beautiful royal purple shade (mainly because I wanted to use Urban Decay's Chaos eyeshadow!) and here is what I came up with!

I would say that Hannah's look represents the passionflower much more, but my look definitely embargoes the different strands, mainly the vivid blue in the centre and crazy lime green accents. I wanted my look to be a bit different in that sense and went for Urban Decay's Chaos eyeshadow paired with Sugarpills Heartbreaker palette (using all shades!)

I really enjoyed the challenge of having to think of ways to incorporate not only a colour scheme into a look but also the challenge of playing with different colours! Its safe to say I've yet to use colours like this yet and its been a lot of fun! Please do check out Hannah's look which you can find here and follow her blog while you're at it. She is incredibly talented and inspiring and I can't quite believe how fantastically her make up artistry has developed. She is gonna go far that's for sure!

Keep an eye out for our next instalment coming soon!

Challenge of the Month February: PINK - Look #3

So I had this in my drafts for a while but being inbetween jobs meant I couldn't find the time to get it posted. As you know last month I challenged myself to use the colour pink more. I thought for my last look of the month I would change it up and incorporate more brights into the look as they have been fairly low key and simple thus far. I also had some great submissions, which you can find at the end so thanks girls!

I realised I had about 3 pinks from Sugarpill that haven't recieved much love from me, so for this look I took to my Sugarpill drawer for inspiration. While this isn't my favourite look (I think it was something to do with the tear duct area?!) it was nice playing with loose eyeshadows again.

So this month, two ladies got involved and submitted their pink looks for the challenge. It was so nice to see some submissions so please please please keep em coming!

Big thank you to Juyey and Mishmreow for these submissions! Both of these bloggers are not only fav reads of mine, but I would also call them friends so do go check them out :)

So next month we have a pastel theme as chosen by Mishmreow! Very fitting with Easter coming up and gives us a chance to explore colours which can be typically quite hard to wear.  I look forward to seeing what we all come up with!
