Disney World Diary 2014: Day #1

Hey everyone! Today I am so very excited and delighted to bring you my 2014 Disney World Diary! Today it is currently 7.30am on my second day and I got up especially early to bring you my tales from my first day!

Just a quick run down of our journey, we flew with Monarch. I have to say, I'm not particularly impressed, but it saved us £300. Having flew with them before I knew it wasn't going to be the best journey. You get no in flight entertainment unless you happen to be situated near one of the screens that comes down (which we weren't as we had window seats). The food was OK, but you don't get nearly enough drinks so we were left very dehydrated. The service with OK with a couple of rude attendants but also some very nice ones too. Honestly though, it was worth saving the £300 off our holiday as we slept most of the flight anyway and it was pretty empty so we actually had an row each to stretch out on.

We arrived in Sanford, got our transfer to our hotel (which is Art of Animation by the way!) and then grabbed a taxi to Walmart. Walmart is sadly one of my favourite places in the world! Its so exciting to us Brits as everything is bigger and better and you Americans have so many awesome flavours. AND I didn't buy any make up, can you believe it? I filled my boots with about 100000 different types of cookie though! After that we made our way back to our resort and went straight to sleep.

My outfit of the day for Magic Kingdom consisted of Forever 21 shoes and top with New Look shorts :)
So Rose (my best friend) is experiencing Disney World for the first time, so naturally our first stop was Magic Kingdom! We got up early so we could see the rope drop, an experience which I think everyone should do. It honestly makes me cry every single time and I won't ruin any surprises by telling you what happens but Rose had a little cry too. Its just MAGICAL and then walking down main street with everyone waving as you enter Magic Kingdom, it feels you like are in some sort of dream!

We went straight to Fantasyland as we had fast passes booked for Space Mountain for 10am. We checked out the new ride, Seven Dwarves Mine Train, but decided to use our fast pass later for it and instead as it seemed everyone in the park had ran to this ride (and I don't blame them either, its amazing! We instead went on the teacups as our first ride (who doesn't enjoy the teacups?!) and then headed over to Tomorrowland. We checked out Buzz Lightyears Space Blaster (such a favourite of mine and Rose was pretty good for her first time! Then we headed to Space Mountain, which is always a lot of fun.

We had a beautiful morning checking out the Tomorrowland rides and going in shops trying on all the silly hats. At about 12pm we settled for lunch at, I bet you can guess, Cosmic Rays, my favourite quick service lunch destination in Magic Kingdom. As usual I had the rotisserie chicken with mash and veggies, but I have to say I was insanely disappointed. It was very fatty and chewy but seeing as I've had hundreds of good meals here VS one bad one I'll let them off! Rose had the pulled pork burger which she really liked and said was incredibly filling.

After Tomorrowland we headed to get a Dole Whip float, its gotta be done when in Magic Kingdom! Seriously, if you are going to Disney World - head to Aloha Isle in Adventureland and grab yourself a Dole Whip, they were featured in my Top 5 Snacks Post and they are seriously good!

We checked out the rides and shops in and around Adventureland and Frontierland before going on Splash Mountain, which rather hilariously I told Rose was a terribly frightening ride (hey I remember it being a lot more crazy than that OK!) and we ended up laughing over how tame it turned out to be. Unfortunately as we exited Splash Mountain, the heavens opened and didn't stop for the remainder of the day! With ponchos on we continued and didn't let the rain dampen our spirits. We explored the shops on Main Street but every ride we attempted was closed because of the rain sadly (that includes YOU Big Thunder Mountain!) We started to queue up for the Festival of Fantasy parade, which turned out to be cancelled due to the weather, but I really liked that Disney put on a rainy day carnival, which while short, was a sweet gesture to keep the crowds entertained.

It also meant a huge lack of photos as I didn't wanna brave getting my camera wet. We did a couple more rides such as Haunted Mansion and then headed to Be Our Guest to see if we could get reservations for dinner. We tried for the entire time you could book advance dining reservations with no luck at all! Unfortunately they had nothing for us which made Rose very sad as she is a HUGE beauty and the beast fan. We decided on another quick service and grabbed dinner at The Harbour House. If you haven't dined here, it is a lovely little location which is always very quiet with lots of free tables. Its quite the gem! We both had battered shrimp with chips, which was delicious and something a little different from the normal burgers and sandwiches you get!

After dinner, we were both knackered, soaked and quite cold.. so decided to give Wishes and the parade a miss for another day. We both felt Roses' first experience of Wishes shouldn't be a wet miserable one, with us barely being able to look up to the sky due to the rain. So we made the journey back to Art of Animation, saving Wishes for another day.

Wet and rainy, but still magical :)

Rose also found herself a hobby in pin collecting (which I have to say I am getting surprisingly addicted too and will probably have to get involved!) She is a big fan of the Nightmare Before Christmas so is hunting for those specific pins. She got quite a good deal, with a pack of two mystery pins and lanyard for $15. The mystery pins were pretty pants, but was amazingly able to find a Nightmare Before Christmas pin on her first trade! She then treated herself to a set of 5 mystery pins at the resort and got trading in and around the lobby, it seems pretty fun! I'm stuck on what to collect myself, but think I'm definitely gonna get involved!

So tomorrow (weather permitting) we are headed to Blizzard Beach and Downtown for some relaxing down time! Let me know if there is any posts you specifically want to see, like an Art of Animation review or anything. I'd be happy to accommodate! :)
See you tomorrow!

Make Up Look: The Kylie Jenner

A fun fact about my little internet space is my most requested looks are Kardashian looks. And can you believe I was a Keeping Up With The Kardashians virgin until about 2 weeks ago and now the obsession starts!
I have been working on doing a "Kim" look but before that, I wanted to show the look I cannot stop wearing - The Kylie Jenner. I love how 90's it is, with the dark brown toned nude lips, lipliner and heavy lashes. Its very different for me as I always tend to go classic, with defined crease and winged liner, but I am in love with this new trend Kylie has started.

I researched exactly what lip products Kylie uses and of course its gotta be MAC! She uses MAC Whirl Lip Liner paired with MAC Brave lipstick. I was lucky enough to already own Brave, so a quick trip to the MAC counter and I was ready to go!

Here is my take on the Kylie look, which I can see myself rocking for a while yet! Will you be giving it a go?

I needed a new mascara so after a bit of research I saw Kylie uses Lancome Hypnose Star among others. I loved the tube so opted for this one but gotta say so far I'm not gelling well with it. It doesn't hold a curl terrifically but does amazing things for length, which I need! I used 3 MAC eyeshadows to create the eyeshadow look, I'm not sure I got it entirely spot on, I could have perhaps made it smokier but hey, I'll get there! As for the lips, I'm in love! I don't think i've ever loved a lip combo more! A good high street dupe is the Rimmel lip liner in Tiramisu and Rimmel lipstick in Birthday Suit :)

Which Kardashian should I do next?

Disney Post: Holiday Memories

I don't know about you (but i'm feeling 22) (I joke I joke) but I suffer from a serious case of the holiday blues when I come home - especially from Disneyworld! I truly wish I could live there forever, so I do anything to keep the magic alive. This usually involves taking lots of photos, putting them in a scrapbook/photo album of some sort, buying professionally done photos from Disney's photopass and keeping them in photo-frames around my house. I do everything and anything so that I remember what a truly magical time I had.

When Sticky9 happened to contact me, with the idea of keeping the magic alive in the form of instagram prints of my Disney travels on magnets, I couldn't say no. I thought what a brilliant little idea. It basically means every time I open the fridge, I smile when I look at all the lovely memories I had. They arrived in fabulous timing (within 3 days) and didn't look fuzzy or bad quality at all, which made me happy. I included both my Paris adventure and my many Florida adventures as I wanted to remember both and I think its a great idea, especially as nowadays so many of us take snaps on our phone. Check out my little Disney memories below!

9 little magnets can be bought for £9.99 and ship for free worldwide! You can buy them here.

Make Up Look: Easy Festival Make Up #1

Hello everyone! So next week I am lucky enough to be going to V-Festival and needless to say I am very excited to do some festival type eye looks!

Now at festivals, I'm very much a low maintenance type of girl. I forgo the extensive make up routine, often leaving my face bare apart from a little bit of mascara and lipstick! But I do like to have some fun, don't get me wrong! I think festivals are a great time to experiment with colours and neon paints and really let your creative side out! So I mixed low maintenance with a little bit of fun and colour to create a look that is extremely easy to do and more importantly QUICK (it took me literally 5 mins or less!)

As you can see I used very very little. In fact I only did my eyebrows! Bare eyes today people!! I busted out the Lime Crime uniliners because quite simply, the colours are MADE for festivals and I can see myself having quite a bit of fun with these guys! All I did was simply dot them around my eye area. Doing only a few dots with the darker colours, but going a bit more wild with the brighter ones. The end result is fun and festival fabulous without spending 2+ hours on your make up. After all, we have bands to see!

Would you like to see more festival looks?

Weekly Work Look #9: Lazy Girls Guide (AND my new blog schedule!)

Hey everyone. I don't know about you, but in the summer I am particularly lazy with my make up.. Sometimes its just too hot to faff around with 5000 eyeshadows! Fear not however, I found the perfect summer eyeshadow in the form of the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze.
I know I'm a bit late to the blogging game with this one as the Colour Tattoo's had their time in the limelight a little while back, but I dug mine out and fell back in love with it and with its ease of use and amazingly versatile colour who'd blame me?

The reason I love On and On Bronze SO much is because this is one eyeshadow, one quick application and yet something in it makes it look like I have spent a tonne of time doing my make up. I love eyeshadows like that! It has a multi-dimensional look to it, looking darker in the crease area and lighter on the lid.

So I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to my new blog schedule. I haven't been very happy with my posting schedule for a while and wanted some more stability in my blog. So here is my schedule from now on which I hope you enjoy and come back to on the days that interest you!

Make Up Look Mondays - New make up looks every Monday. This could be anything from a Disney look, a series look, Weekly Work Look or whatever takes my fancy!
Tutorial Tuesday's - This won't be every week, but I do hope as and when, I can start incorporating more tutorials into my blog. They are the most highly requested thing I get asked, but do take a lot of prepping so hopefully I can do a couple a month!
Wellness Wednesday's - I want to share more lifestyle posts as that is something that right now, is a huge part of my life! This Wednesday I have a post going up that tells exactly why I wanna post about my fitness and health choices as well as where it all began. I get asked a lot of questions about this sorta thing and while I am nowhere near knowledgeable enough to give sound advice, I would love to share what I am learning! Its all about the journey peeps!
Friday's will be a bit of a wildcard, with make up looks, holy grail posts, just anything that takes my fancy. It is Friday after all!
Days in between will be reserved for sponsored posts which will ALWAYS be marked.

So I hope you enjoy my new blog schedule and it will hopefully bring some life back to Blog of Shadows!
And of course, as always please do let me know what you wanna see here. I aim to please :)
