52 Weeks of Disney: Week #1: Pinocchio Make Up Look

Hey everyone! If you're a follower of my Instagram you will know this year I have set myself a new challenge. I have to admit, I was feeling a bit like my make up looks were becoming samey and I was finding it hard to get inspired especially after hurting my wrist. But then an idea came to me which I thought would be brilliant to challenge me as an artist as well as being able to carry on posting one of the series' that you all seem to really enjoy.
So, the idea is that there are currently 52 Disney Animated Classic movies available to buy and 52 weeks in a year.
My challenge is that I would watch one movie a week and then do a look based on the film for the rest of the year.
This means I would be able to finish off my DVD collection (of which I only have a few left!) and do a look which should hopefully challenge me, inspire me and encourage me to use different colour palettes as Disney has some very colourful characters indeed! I'm pretty excited and for the first week of the year I started with one of the oldest Disney movies and the second Disney Animated Classic (while I wait for the first to arrive!) and that is Pinocchio!

As you can probably tell I was mostly inspired by Pinocchios colour scheme of red, yellow and blue but the red went a bit too orange for my liking. The result of too much blending I think but I asked a few people and they all said it still looked very representative of Pinocchio and I agree! I don't know if anyone else feels like this, but Pinocchio scared me senseless as a child! I used to hate the Pleasure Island bit when the little boys get turned into donkeys and "Monstro" is just the scariest whale!

Will anyone else be joining me for this challenge? I'd love it if some more people got involved! Its gonna be a lot of work but also very rewarding and fun! I hope you enjoy my posts as much as I enjoy creating them!

  2. It's perfect, you can see Pinocchio in it! As soon as I saw it, I was nodding and saying yes that's Pinocchio.

I can not wait to see the rest of the looks, I would join in but I am still pretty hopeless at applying eye makeup.

  4. Pinocchio scared the hell out of me too, the Pleasure Island bit freaked me out like nothing else (except maybe when Aurora's going up the stairs in Sleeping Beauty). This looks even better now that I'm seeing this on my laptop! It's so bright and reminiscent of Pinnochio :)

    1. I haven't seen Sleeping Beauty in a long long time, so I can't really remember that bit :( But yes, pleasure island is so weird and scary! Like all the kids are smoking and fighting and urgh, the men aren't even men but monsters if you looked closely! And thank you Amy, thank you for giving me the confidence to post it too!

  5. After rewatching this movie somewhat recently I realised how messed up this film was, especially the pleasure island bit I was like DAYM how did this not mess me up as a child? XD Also I love this idea :) Don't think I'll be joining you yet as it's too short notice but I did watch Brave in the 1st week of jan and tangled in the 2nd week, I might keep up with watching a disney movie per week thing who knows, that said, I didn't realise disney had that many movies either o.o The look is wonderful as always too ^^ Love the color placement ^^

  12. I LOVE this idea :D and this make up look is perfect.

I'm not as big a fan as Disney as you, but then again I don't know many people who are.... but I do like it and I love make up so I think maybe once a month I may have to do a Disney look based off the movie or a character type of thing.
I've got a few ideas for series planned of what I want to do this year and started my Studio Ghibli series today (Well I did the make up today haha), but Disney would be a cool one to slip in somewhere through the month.

Oh you do inspire me now I'm like "STOP COMMENTING JULIE AND WRITE IDEAS DOWN!" haha. xx
