Disneyworld Diary: Day #1

Hello everyone. Sorry I have been a bit lax in the old posting. I'm currently sitting in my hotel room in Florida! I thought I'd do something I haven't ever really done before on the blog, something completely unrelated to beauty... but a holiday diary! I've seen some other people do them and thought i'd love to read this in a few years time and remember my trip away! And since Disneyworld is a popular holiday destination, it might be interesting to read!
So lets get into it!

We started our getaway with a Frankie & Bennys breakfast. I indulged in this yummy "mocktail" :)

Our plane!

We (being me and my boyfriend) arrived in our resort and straight away fell in love. We are staying at Saratoga Springs Spa & Resort. The theming behind the resort is inspired by the historical Saratoga Springs in upstate New York with Victorian charm and equestrian theming reminiscent of the town once famous for its horse racing. If you'd like a little review of the resort i'd be happy to oblige, but upon first impression I loved it. Its very similar to the resort we stayed in last time - Old Key West, with similar style pastel coloured villas and rooms. Our room this time was a lot smaller as it is just me and my boyfriend, but still it was roomy enough and had everything we needed.

Mickey with a tie welcomed us to our room :)

The villas around Saratoga Springs, so cute!

Right away, we had been up about 20 hours and wanted to sleep, but our tummies were rumbling and we had a real craving for our favourite quick service restaurant - Cosmic Rays in Magic Kingdom. So we abandoned our bags and headed straight off for Magic Kingdom, in quite the state of delirium from being up so long! It was honestly so so nice to be back in what I call my home. My heart feels so content and happy here, even though that sounds ridiculous! I had the half rotisserie chicken (SOOO good by the way especially for what isn't a proper restaurant - its classed as Quick Service) and my boyfriend enjoyed half ribs and half chicken. As we are on the Disney Dining Plan - we are entitled to one "quick service" meal a day, and one table service (so basically a sit down meal at a restaurant) as well as a snack (which can be many many things from Apples to Coke Floats!). If you don't happen to have the Dining Plan, the half rib, half chicken meal is fabulous value for money, it would easily feed two and in hindsight, we probably should have shared it!

After we ate our very scrummy Cosmic Rays, we explored the New Fantasyland briefly before grabbing a Pineapple Float (my boyfriend went for a Coke float!) and watched Wishes and then heading back to our hotel, at this point... being awake over 24 hours but happy as hell!

Our first proper day, we decided to go to Epcot.

OOTD for Epcot :)
Dress - River Island. Flip Flops - Primark

Our day started off very sunny, to the point where we were walking into shops to cool off. But as soon as we sat down for our lunch of Fish n Chips in the English pavilion (how terribly safe of us!) it started to get incredibly windy and cold. The rest of the day, it didn't rain.... it poured. And for the first time I have ever been in Florida, I was COLD! The queues were long, it was rainy and windy - so we retreated back to the hotel to change and figure out what to do with the rest of the day! I even changed into jeans and a hoody - thats how cold it was!

Fish 'n' Chips from the England pavilion in Epcot.

We decided to wait out the rain and then go to Downtown Disney, where we decided to eat at Pollo Compero/Bodie's All American Diner. Honestly, I wouldn't recommending eating here ( I didn't even bother taking pictures) I had some rather dry chicken strips and cold chips, but my boyfriend had a burger which he thought was great! For dessert I tucked into a delicious cookie sandwich (two gorgeously gooey cookies with buttercream in the middle) and my boyfriend had a vanilla cupcake. Definitely made up for my rather lacking dinner!

We spent the rest of the evening walking around Downtown Disney, enjoying all the live entertainment. I particularly liked a very talented guy playing the saxophone! We were pretty jetlagged though, so didn't stay long and headed home. The great thing about our resort is it is literally a 5 minute walk to Downtown Disney (where you would normally need a bus!) so for us, who are great fans of the entertainment and dining Downtown Disney has to offer, it was great!

So that was our first day! Hope you enjoyed my pictures and didn't get too bored ;)

  1. Looks like you're having a fabulous time already :)
Pity about that restaurant though, not what you'd expect from WDW, eh?
I'm excited for your next instalments!

  3. Can't wait to read more! I've got Cosmic Rays on my 'must eat' spreadsheet (how sad does that sound?) and Saratoga Springs looks beautiful! Can't believe it's only 5 mins away from DTD, bet it's so much nicer not having to use double transport every morning.

Love your RI dress by the way, think I might order it myself! xx

    1. Love the idea of a spreadsheet, I will admit to having a list of places to eat too ;) Cosmic Rays is probably my favourite quick service, you gotta go! :)

  4. I cannot wait for the next instalment! You know me, I could read about Disney all day long.
When I go to Disneyland Florida (who know when that will be) I'll use this as a guide.

I know what you mean about it feeling like your home, it's not ridiculous at all. I went to Disneyland Paris (my first ever Disney experience) in 2008 and I nearly cried when I had to leave. I felt so at home and happy.

Your hotel looks gorgeous, how cute is Mickey with a tie? xx

    1. Thats so awesome Claire, proper smiling from ear to ear now you said that :D
And don't feel bad about crying, I am being 100% serious when I say that I cry ALL the time at Disney. When Mickey opens the gates to magic kingdom, I bawl my eyes out everytime. God knows why!! Haha!

    1. I totally got a cupcake from Babycakes, SOOOO good! We didn't do Universal this time as we only did it last year and not much had changed from 2 years ago so we decided to skip! I did miss it though, especially Seaworld!
