Lush Retro - February 2013

Hello everyone. I'm back with another monthly Lush Retro! This month saw the comeback of my favourite Lush product of all time. It pained me I could only buy one...
Now I know what you are going to say... aren't you on a spending ban? Yes, yes I am. But in my spending ban rules I did state I would allow myself the monthly lush Retro and limited edition goodies, since that is one of the main parts of my blog. I don't think thats too bad is it?
Anyways, for those who don't know what Retro is. Lush release a lot of limited edition stuff. Lush bring back this discontinued stuff for ONE MONTH only, so its a great way to try out older products that you might have missed!

Oh my, oh my. THIS is my favourite Lush product of all time. I have a whole tin of these stashed and just as well, because this time around I could only buy 1! Wah! The reason I love this little cute as a button mushroom? The top part, smells like strawberries and the bottom is vanilla. Combined this makes a beautiful scent that stays on the skin and fills the house with its sweet aroma. Top it off with long lasting bubbles and pretty raspberry water (providing you use the red part). This little mushroom produces wonderfully soft water, perfect for dry skinned lovelies like myself and a small bit goes a long way too, meaning your £3.50 is going to last you about 3-4 baths. Basically what I'm tryna say is... order this. You won't be disappointed!

This month saw the return of the shower jelly! I myself quite like shower jellies as they are something a bit different and fun! From the description on the website, I knew I wasn't going to like this scent wise, but for the sakes of review, ordered it regardless. Spank me with Saplings disappeared 7 years ago, but the forum has always sang for its return so I thought I *may* like it. Upon sniffing it, urgh. I didn't like it. Its very woody, herby and "green", not a fresh scent, but more musky and masculine. But I actually quite liked it when I used it in the shower. Its not uplifting like most herby green scents, but more relaxing and deep. I'd say this is a hard one, especially to go in and buy for £5.50 without smelling first.

Strawberry Feels Forever - £6.75

First off let me tell you. I hate Retro prices. Like £7 for a massage bar and not the most generous sized one at that. I understand Lush is a business but jesus, this is ripping people who want to buy their favourite products which Lush so kindly discontinued. Anyways rant over. Strawberry Feels Forever is one of my favourite products. Anything strawberry scented and I'm there! I do remember this massage bar being more moisturising when it was released previously (and yes I do have back ups of this from last time /slapswrist) but trust me, it is worth it. The smell is just divine. Like... so so dreamy. Its not a strawberry scent but more a strawberries and cream scent, its light, girly and sweet without being sickly. I'm torn because as much as I love this bar, I can't recommend it based on the price AND how small it is. It will easily be used up with 5-8 times. :(

Another Retro gem which the forum raved about. I have to say, this smells quite divine. With notes of lavender and marigold, it has a very luxurious smell about it. It reminds me of something I would see in a posh french ladies bourdoir or something like that. I feel like I am not posh enough to use it! Definitely for those who love lavender, the smell is comforting, fresh and elegant which is only emphasised more by the rosebuds and lavender springs scattered on the edge. I really like this and its probably my favourite soap I have thus far from Retro! It is drying though, but to be expected as not a single Lush soap isn't.

Romance in a Stone Bath Bomb - £2.95

A cute little passage from I think a poem, erupts from the bomb. Quite a nice tough!

I have to say, I really liked Romance in a Stone. It is a nice little bath bomb that doesn't really do anything to the water but does explode with flowers at the end of its fizzy journey. It is a tiny bath bomb so don't expect too much for £2.95 but its very relaxing and creates a serene and calm bath perfect for days where you just need to get away from it all. The scent is very floral, with rose being the main scent from what I could detect. Even though the bath bomb is small, the scent really packs a punch and was easily detectable on my skin afterwards!

Overall:I found this retro to be abit boring I have to say... There were 2 amazing products but I was pretty disappointed with both the high price and scent choice - but obviously those are both personal preferences.
Hit: Of course my beloved Magic Mushroom! :)
Miss: For me I'm gonna have a real hard time using up Spank me With Saplings as the smell is just not for me.

  2. Ah, nostalgia! I remember all of these goodies but don't think I've tried any of them! I'm curious about Spank Me with Saplings- how does it compare to the Grass shower gel?

    1. SMWS is a lot deeper and more herby. Its quite masculine smelling and just... not as uplifting and light? I hope that makes sense haha! I'd stick with Grass!
